2FA codes shared with your team

Store the 2FA key of each client account and anyone on the team with access generates the 6-digit code on the spot, without asking the client.

The problem

"Send me the code you just got." The client's two-step verification blocks the team: you wait for them to reply, often after hours, and the post or campaign gets delayed.

How it works

  1. 1

Turn on the authenticator app option

In the security settings of the social network or service, choose the authenticator app option. It shows a QR code.

  2. 2

    Save it with the login

Scan the QR with the camera, upload or paste a screenshot, or paste the setup key. The image is read on your device and never uploaded.

  3. 3

Generate the code when you need it

The login details show the current code with a countdown and a copy button.

Details

  • Works with the authenticator app option (TOTP), not with codes sent by SMS or email.
  • The code is computed on the server: the browser never receives the secret key.
  • Every time someone views a code, it's logged.
  • Logins with 2FA show a badge in the list.
  • Included from Freelancer. If you downgrade, saved codes keep working, but you can't add new ones.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for Instagram, Facebook or Google?

Yes, for any service that offers verification with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator.

What if the client uses SMS codes?

SMS codes go to their phone and can't be shared this way. Ask them to switch to the authenticator app option and save that key in Passfolio.

Can the client still sign in with their own app?

Yes, if they scan the same QR in their app. Both generate the same code.
